Canadian shoppers have a few non-grocery recall checks to add to the usual fridge and pantry scan this week. Health Canada’s recalls site is listing a Sweet Vengeance edible cannabis recall, a Boon PIVOT toddler tower recall and a Madewell sweater recall, each with a different household risk. The products are not interchangeable and the action steps are different, so the practical move is to check one category at a time: cannabis edibles stored in cupboards or lockboxes, children’s kitchen step stools, and light blue or cream Madewell V-neck sweaters. Recalls can feel like background noise, but these three notices are exactly the kind that can sit in a home for months because they are not everyday fresh groceries.
Start with the edible cannabis products, especially if you bought Social Sessions items in Ontario or Saskatchewan. Health Canada says 10392804 Canada Inc., doing business as Sweet Vengeance, recalled certain Social Sessions edible cannabis products because of undeclared milk and hazelnut, labelling and packaging issues, and a suspected quality concern. The affected list includes micro-dosed chocolate products such as 1111 THC Micro-Dosed Vegan Chocolate with Lions Mane, 1212 THC:CBD 1:25 Micro-Dosed Vegan Chocolate Reishi and Macro 10 Vegan “Mylk” Chocolate, with specific lots and tested values shown on the federal notice. Health Canada says 6,770 units were sold from March 2025 to May 2026 through authorized retailers. If you keep cannabis products at home, check the brand, lot number and package size instead of relying on the front label or the word “vegan.”
The allergy angle is the most shopper-relevant part of that notice. A product marketed or understood as vegan can still create a serious risk if milk is present and not declared, and hazelnut can be dangerous for people with tree nut allergies. The recall page also shows differences between printed cannabinoid values and tested values on some products, which is another reason not to guess about strength or serving size. Health Canada’s instruction is to stop using affected products, return them to the store where they were bought or dispose of them, and dispose of opened products safely and out of reach of children and youth. For households with visitors, roommates or adult children, it is worth checking where edibles are stored and making sure recalled products are not shared casually.
Parents and grandparents should also look for the Boon PIVOT Toddler Tower Kids Kitchen Step Stool. The recalled product is a folding step stool designed for children in the kitchen and sold in grey and white. The affected models include SKU families B11437, B11437A, B11437A1 and B11437A2 in grey with UPC 669028115679, and B11578, B11578A, B11578A1 and B11578ME in white with UPC 669028115785. Health Canada says the stool may be unstable while in use, posing a tip-over hazard, and that as of July 9, 2026 the company had received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. No injuries reported is good news, but it does not make the product safe to keep using while waiting for a convenient time to check it.
The step-stool action is straightforward: immediately stop using the recalled product and contact TOMY International for a repair kit. This is also a reminder not to resell or give away recalled children’s products. Health Canada notes that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada. That matters for family gear because toddler towers, high chairs, cribs, strollers and kitchen helpers often move through Facebook Marketplace, neighbourhood groups and hand-me-down circles. If you bought the stool second-hand, you may not receive a retailer email, so compare the model, colour and UPC yourself and use the recall contact details on the federal page.
The third check belongs in the closet, especially for anyone who bought Madewell women’s sweaters for fall or winter layering. Health Canada says Madewell Double V-Neck Pullover and V-Neck Cardigan women’s sweaters have been recalled because they do not comply with the Textile Flammability Regulations, posing a burn hazard. The recalled sweaters come in light blue and cream colours, sizes XS through L, with “Madewell” and the size printed on the neck label. The sewn-in side seam label shows “Style #NT611” or “Style #NT612” and “HO24.” The federal notice, dated August 14, says consumers should immediately stop wearing the sweaters and contact Madewell for a refund of the original purchase price or equivalent store credit.
For shoppers, the useful habit is to turn recall checks into a quick household routine rather than a panic. Search by product type first: edibles and specialty consumables, children’s gear, then clothing or textiles. Match exact identifiers such as lot number, SKU, UPC, style number and date code, because similar products may not be part of a recall. Keep photos of labels before returning, repairing or destroying items, and save order numbers when possible. If a product was a gift, bought second-hand or purchased months ago, do not assume the original buyer will be notified. A five-minute check now can prevent an allergic reaction, a child’s fall or continued use of a textile product that failed a safety requirement.
